With a fertility rate of 7, it has sharply fell to the 1940 rate of 2.06. There was a increase in fertility from 1940 to an 1960 high point of 3.58 children. These numbers represent the average number of children per household. That number has continued to decline, since, with, minor pushes upwards to a 2010 high of 2.06, but, declining still again in those last 12 years. The fertility rate as of 2022 in North America has dropped below 2.0; Mexico holding number one position at 2.0, the US is roughly 1.5 and Canada has dropped to 1.0 and below...

The Collapse of Empire and the ‘dick’ removal business.

Written on walls by youth. Singers and playwrights warp the scenes to incorporate its passing. Its that beast that slouches. We are in a free fall. I am a fan of history, or I should say, I like stories about history, I like the narratives. And one I read recently reminded me of the process of the 'fall of civilizations', the process of that demise in a few generations.
Summer of Love: Revisited
The summer is over and the shadow of winter casts a cold fog at my back door early this morning. I am prepared for a cold winter. The summer of love ended in September 1967 and all those love children moved on. Or did they? Heart broke and the loss, and melancholia at the end of what seemed like a free lunch that would go on forever... Marty Balin and that Jefferson Airplane crowd seeped away, like the others that lead the culture, clots from a dying dream and headed back to real town, USA.
