"Instead of recommending cleanliness to the poor, we should encourage contrary habits. In our towns we should make the streets narrower, crowd more people into the houses, and court the return of the plague." -- Thomas Malthus **** Population has been on a steady decline since 1800. With a fertility rate of 7, it has sharply fell to the 1940 rate of 2.06. There was a increase in fertility from 1940 to an 1960 high point of 3.58 children. These numbers represent the average number of children per household. That number has continued to decline, since, with, minor pushes upwards to a 2010 high of 2.06, but, declining still again in those last 12 years. The fertility rate as of 2022 in North America has dropped below 2.0; Mexico holding number one position at 2.0, the US is roughly 1.5 and Canada has dropped to 1.0 and below...
The Collapse of Empire and the ‘dick’ removal business.
"Girls who are boys, who like boys to be girls. Who do boys like they're girls, who do girls like they're boys. Always should be someone you really love." - Blur The signs are everywhere. Written on walls by youth. Singers and playwrights warp the scenes to incorporate its passing. Its that beast that slouches. We are in a free fall. I am a fan of history, or I should say, I like stories about history, I like the narratives. And one I read recently reminded me of the process of the 'fall of civilizations', the process of that demise in a few generations.
Summer of Love: Revisited
The summer is over and the shadow of winter casts a cold fog at my back door early this morning. I am prepared for a cold winter. The summer of love ended in September 1967 and all those love children moved on. Or did they? Heart broke and the loss, and melancholia at the end of what seemed like a free lunch that would go on forever... Marty Balin and that Jefferson Airplane crowd seeped away, like the others that lead the culture, clots from a dying dream and headed back to real town, USA.
IT’S NOT THAT COMPLICATED…
The versions of old stories took on a life of their own. The sheer amount of time involved, expressed itself as well. Like myths do. It began to no longer be a campfire tale, an interesting thing one speaks about on a long voyage. It seemed it became the most logical answer to that age-old problem -- well, wonder that is...many people tried to exploit it, they push mystery...
What do you think I am? (Breaking the Fourth Wall )
"Sometimes I rest in the stillness -- far out there, on the way back.
I stop and I am held without the weight of my life.
Suspended.
Listening to the cacophony of noise rise from that little circle.
Into my inky blackness, and I look back to their home.
It took me a long time to realize I was different from them.
That I was not the clothes I was wearing."

Propaganda and the “Great Narrative” or, “How the future doesn’t need us”
Do you have the time. Are you patient enough to read and take this all in; are you focused enough? Your attention span how far will it go here without ditching what is being said to you for another idea that is crowding your consciousness for your immediate attention. Some ephemeral bullshit of what's important today. The Dutch farmers, or Ukraine and the Nazis. Biden asking what shoes he is supposed to wear today...
Poem: WHITE DOG
The white dog stops...
we breathe in for a minute and take in the universal breath.
It is dark out here...
it's black and darkly cold, out here.
The wind cuts the image from my eyes,
and I watch it fall frozen and split like glass into the snow.
This deep and unwritten thing -- waiting on edge,
for a free life to write it,
too large to see it all
deep back in there beyond my visions reach.
The starry dingle...I begin, and
now I see it,
I raise my head to take in all this...
